              Siege of Well-Fortified City
Daniel goes on to say that both the North and the South had a great multitude of forces and that tens of
thousands fell in battle. This battle will come after “some years.” However, the forces of the South will not make a
stand because of the lack of strength. It also states the northern king of the United European forces will raise a
greater multitude in its army. Is this attack due to the gold reserves being removed from the Northern Empire?

Daniel 11:12-15 “When the multitude is carried away, his heart will be lifted up, and he will cause tens of
thousands to fall; yet he will not prevail. “For the king of the North will again raise a greater multitude
than the former, and after an interval of some years he will press on with a great army and much
equipment. “Now in those times many will rise up against the king of the South; the violent ones
among your people will also lift themselves up in order to fulfill the vision, but they will fall down.
“Then the king of the North will come, cast up a siege ramp and capture a well-fortified city; and the
forces of the South will not stand their ground, not even their choicest troops, for there will be no
                                        97
              strength to make a stand.”
Daniel’s prophecy states that the king of the North will siege a well-fortified city. This is not an open field battle,
but one that will capture with strength the city. This siege of a well-fortified city seems to occur just prior to the
beginning of the Great Tribulation. This includes the capture of its best trained troops within the well-fortified
city. What is considered the most valuable city in the southern alliance of nations besides Jerusalem?

It is interesting to find in prophecy the Hebrew word ַפ ָשׁ shaphak translated as “cast or poured” ramps, which is a
modern construction term. It is used for poured concrete structures versus brick or stone ramps of the past. The
well-fortified city must be south of the nations of Israel and Jordan, but north of the Red Sea or Gulf of Aden. It
must be an Islamic coalition of nations represented by the king of the South as the alliance. Since the riches were
taken into Egypt, is that the location of the city or does the North attack their “Sacred Mosque” the city of Mecca?
