22 “Then the cherubim lifted up their wings with the wheels beside them, and the glory of the God of
Israel hovered over them.
23 The glory of the LORD went up from the midst of the city and stood over the mountain which is
east of the city.”

Holy Temple
Daniel wrote and prophesied about the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem and when it “will be properly
restored”. Daniel wrote that the Temple of Jerusalem would be destroyed from a kingdom or empire from the
north. The kingdom of the north was the Roman Empire. He later prophesied about the abomination of the
Temple in the End Times or during the Great Tribulation.
The Siege and Destruction of Jerusalem, by David Roberts (1850)
Daniel 8:9 “Out of one of them came forth a rather small horn which grew exceedingly great toward the
south, toward the east, and toward the Beautiful Land.”
39
Palestine is west leaving only the north. Wasn’t Rome north of the Beautiful Land of Palestine? The Roman
Emperor at the time of destruction of the Temple was Vespasian, who is the prophetic “rather small horn.”
Daniel 8:11 “….and the place of His sanctuary was thrown down.” 39
This must mark the 70 AD Temple destruction by the Roman Empire of being “torn down.” This is not in
agreement with Bible Scholars such as Matthew Henry's Commentary, Holman concise Bible Commentary and
Unger's Commentary on the Old Testament. However, Cooper Abrams sees this as a “far reaching prediction.”
