Dragon Thrown Down
Constellation Draco: Early Christians saw
Draco as the serpent which had tempted Adam
and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Draco, was the
serpent-like dragon that twined round the tree in
the Garden and guarded the apples.
Constellation of Virgo: Virgo was sometimes
associated with the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Draco depicted as a Dragon (Jehoshaphat Aspin, 1825) Virgo depicted as a Virgin or Goddess (Jehoshaphat Aspin, 1825)
Revelation 12:3-4 “Then another sign appeared in heaven: and behold, a great red dragon having seven
heads and ten horns, and on his heads were seven diadems. And his tail swept away a third of the stars
of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give

birth, so that when she gave birth he might devour her child.”
How do we know who was thrown down to the earth and who was the woman? It is because the Virgin Mary
gave birth to Christ the male child, who was from the stem of Jesse, the father of David. The genealogy of Christ
is recorded in Matthew 1:1-17 and Luke 3:23-38. Virgo has a branch or stem in her hand which is mentioned in
Isaiah 11:1. The branch symbolizes the virgin birth of Christ. The “eye” of Draco is over Virgo ready to devour
her. The dragon is described as the Serpent of Old, the Devil and Satan in Revelation 12:9. Hydra, the seven
headed serpent is just below the Constellations of Virgo and Leo. Hydra’s tail occupies one-third of the heavenly
stars. But, John uses the word “dragon” in his vision for alignment with the sign of the Constellation of Draco.
Revelation 12:13 “And when the dragon saw that he was thrown down to the earth, he persecuted the
woman who gave birth to the male child.”

Again, God protects his children and Israel and seals 144,000. The woman is able to flee into the wilderness to
be nourished for the second half of the Tribulation period. It will be on symbolic wings of a “great eagle.”
Revelation 12:6 “Then the woman fled into the wilderness where she had a place prepared by God, so
that there she would be nourished for one thousand two hundred and sixty days.” 177
