What is the next sign in the heavens? Alpha Librae (α Lib, α Librae) is the second brightest star in the
Constellation Libra (despite its Bayer designation as alpha). It has the traditional name Zubenelgenubi. The
name, from Arabic ﻲﺑﻮﻨﺠﻟا ﻦﺑﺰﻟا (al-zuban al-janūbiyy), means “southern claw” and was coined before Libra was
recognized as distinct from Scorpius. Could the “southern claw” represent the “claw of death” for the martyred
believers? In Greek Mythology, the scorpion killed the “True Shepherd,” who was Christ. Christ had died on the
cross and was resurrected from the grave.

The radiant light coming from what appears as the star Zubenelgenubi is actually coming from the sun’s partial
eclipse, which is a reflection from the moon. This nighttime event follows after the “Serpens” constellations are
seen in the heavens above. Libra is a constellation of the zodiac. Its name is Latin for weighing scales, and its

symbol is the . The brightest stars in Libra form a quadrangle as seen in the image below, which make up
              the “scales of justice.”
